Celine Dion starts rehearsals one month after René's death

Celine Dion has started rehearsals ahead of her return to the stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on February 23.

According to an insider from Closer magazine, the 47-year-old wants to sing in honour of her late husband René Angélil.

'There are times when Celine says she just wants to curl up in a ball,' a source told the title.

'But that wasn't what Rene would have wanted. Celine is tougher than people give her credit for. She's moving ahead.'

And while Celine is apparently 'extremely heartbroken' following her spouse's passing, sources close to the family say René wouldn't have wanted her to have a lengthy leave of absence from the stage.

An insider spilled: 'That's what René would want. He wants her to perform and come back. He knew her better than anybody and he probably knows that's what she needs too, to perform.'

The songstress will work alongside her new manager, Aldo Giampaolo, who has been her adviser for 25 years.

René Angélil passed away on January 14 after a long battle with throat cancer.

The 73-year-old was laid to rest on January 22 in Montreal.

Celine paid tribute to her late husband by sharing an emotional Facebook post.

'He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man,' she wrote.

'All who had the privilege of knowing him and of working closely with him, whether personally or professionally, salute a leader and a man of great intelligence and wisdom.'
