Celine Dion honours René Angélil at his 'Celebration Of Life'

A heartbroken Celine Dion honoured her late husband René Angélil at the Caesar's Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas.

The grieving singer was joined at the Celebration of Life event by René's brother André, his daughter Anne-Marie and sons Jean-Pierre, Patrick and Rene-Charles.

The group clasped a gold sculpture made from a cast of René's hand while on stage.

Celine paid tribute to her late husband in a 20 minute speech.

'I was never part of any of the meetings that he had where he had to say yes or no. He protected me from day one for the rest of my life, I am pretty sure of that,' the singer told the room.

'I feel his love in this room. I feel his strength and his warmth being reflected in all of you. René always surrounded me with the best people who believed in us and always worked so hard on our behalf.'

Musician David Foster sang The Colour of My Love - Celine and René's chosen wedding song - which left the singer in tears.

René lost his life in January following a battle with throat cancer.

Celine was the primary carer for René as his health took a turn for the worse over the past year.

The singer first met Rene when she was 12 and he was 38 - they started dating when she was 19 - and was there by his side until the end.
