Pete and Manu spill all on this season of MKR

What can viewers expect to see on this season of My Kitchen Rules?
Manu: It’s a mix of people pushing the boundaries, with a bit of modern spice.
Pete: There’s a lot of cultural cooking, heritage cooking, family recipes passed on – I think we’ve got more of that in this series than in any series so far.

Did any teams stand out from the start as the ones to beat?
Manu: The opposite!
Pete: There have been a lot of surprises in this series. Teams that we thought would be there in the end aren’t, and teams that we didn’t think would be there at the end are. It’s more of a competition this year than any other.

Have there been any big disasters?
Pete: There are always disasters! There are teams that come in thinking they can cook, who unfortunately are probably a little bit out of their league.
Manu: Some people are relieved toleave early!

Do you see yourself doing this job for a long time?
Pete: We’re signed on for a couple more years... We’re locked and loaded. We’re up to season seven. We’ll get up to 10, like Seinfeld, and then...
Manu: ...retire?

How would you describe your relationship?
Manu: It’s the perfect relationship – we don’t see each other for six months of the year! [Laughs]
Pete: We know each other – when to leave each other alone, or when each other needs...
Manu: ...a hug.
Pete: Yeah! [Both laugh] Manu brings food for me on set, I bring food for him... it’s a very close relationship and we accept each other.
