Tim Robards spills his get-fit tips!

Tim Robards spills his get-fit tips!

What daily habits do you live by for your wellbeing?
'Water - I try to drink a lot of water. That’s a simple one. I aim for a litre per 25kg of body weight. That’s what I tell most of my patients. Exercise – the first thing you do before you go to bed is put your joggers at the end of your bed. So when you get up in the morning, don’t even think about it, just throw your joggers on.'

What is the key to good health?
'You’ve got to do these things regularly and consistently. If you want you want your body to change for the better, you actually need to stress it in a good way. If you’re going to the gym and burning up your energy stores, that is a stress on your body that your body will adapt to. I always tell people to learn what your 10 out of 10 is of hard training and then try to push it to an 11. Take it to the next level. Your body is amazing. It will adapt. Don’t set limits before you even start.'

What's your personal food philosophy?
'It’s all about balance. what I’ve come up with, my philosophy, is the 7 2 1 principle which is: I try to eat 70% of my food super clean so that means totally fresh. 20% sensible so if I do want to eat spaghetti bolognaise I’ll get some wholewheat pasta and throw in some vegetables and just give it some extra balanced. And then 10% relaxed where I’m not really thinking about it too much.'

What are your goals for 2016?
'But my biggest goal is to help as many other people as I can. I’ve come up with the Robards Method to try to make a big change to people’s health and education to simplify health. Because health isn’t that complicated. I’m in a position where I can help others and I get a lot back from that.'

Do they feel the pressure to get engaged or married like other Bachelor couples?
'I’ll put up a post on Instagram and I’ll get questions saying ‘when are you getting married?’ but most of them are 14 year old girls. I think it’s really important to get to know someone. And it’s also about getting to know yourself more. I would like to one day get married definitely and I hope it will be with Anna and it’s certainly heading that way. But I don’t want to do something because of the pressure. My integrity and my honesty is very important. I’ll do it when it’s right.'

As a key influencer for Blackmores during the Australian Open, Tim is encouraging Australians to take charge of their wellbeing by assessing their health with the Blackmores Wellbeing Check, encouraging them to pledge their wellbeing goals for 2016 with #IWillBe on social media.
