As he prepares to do battle on Season Four of The Voice, crowd favourite Ricky Martin says he’s thrilled to be back in our country – but not nearly as thrilled as his twin boys, six-year-old Matteo and Valentino.

"I feel so at home [here] that I’m really, really, really looking into my residency in Australia," he says.

"I’ve got two kids, so I really base this decision on how comfortable they feel. When we are not here, every other day, they are saying: 'When do we go back to Australia?'"

Explaining that he always feels ‘very welcome’ here, Ricky is keen to offer more stability for his boys as they grow up.

"It just feels right to be here,"he says. "I was born on the road and my kids were born on the road and I know what it’s like to go from one place to the other. I am from Puerto Rico – it’s a very beautiful little island in the middle of the Caribbean and for comfort I always go back to that little spot. And [likewise], there is something that makes me feel very protected in Australia."

The boys might soon have another sibling to bond with, too, as Ricky reveals plans to expand his brood. The twins were born via a surrogate thanks to IVF, and Ricky has revealed he hopes to have a girl next – and says when that happens, it will take priority over everything else.

"I’d like my family to grow so I will take a break when that moment comes to spend time with the newborn," says Ricky, who’s been single since splitting from long-term partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella in January 2014.
