Lisa Curry and Joel Walkenhorst know each other well - perhaps too well - after an epic road trip around Australia that left them with no illusions about each other.
Despite bumps in the road, the swim legend and her boyfriend of five years say they are soulmates who’ve ‘had a blast’ travelling to every state and territory on their 50,000km adventure.

However, as they arrive at Uluru – the 100th and final stop on their One Life One Chance trip – they admit they’re also looking forward to some personal space.
"It’s cosy and comfortable in the motorhome – but being together 24/7 can be hard. Talk about stress. You want to get away, to another room – but there isn’t one!" laughs Lisa, 52, in a candid interview with New Idea.

"It's not like home where you can disappear for a while. Eveywhere we went, people commented: 'Wow I could never do what you're doing, go on the road wiht my partner' - and we knew exactly what they meant.
"Joel and I complement each other really well, but I’m a morning person and he definitely isn’t. We also have vastly different opinions, which creates interesting and sometimes very heated discussion."
