Netflix show Bodies, starring Stephen Graham, teases a time-shifting murder conspiracy in its first trailer.

Premiering Thursday, October 19 on the streaming platform, the eight-episode thriller comes from Torchwood writer Paul Tomalin and is based on the 2015 Si Spencer graphic novel Bodies. It sees four detectives from the years 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053 investigate the exact same Whitechapel case.

Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queen's Gambit) plays DS Whiteman, Kyle Soller (Andor) is DI Hillinghead, Amaka Okafor (The Responder) is DS Hasan, and Shira Haas (Unorthodox) is DC Maplewood.

"You're not the first detective to discover this body," reveals Graham's notably posh character Elias Mannix in the trailer, as flashes of the periodically recurring crime rush in and out of view.

"I'm going to tell you everything," he adds. "It's going to blow your mind."

Coincidentally, Netflix UK subscribers can already watch a series titled Bodies at the moment – created by Line of Duty's Jed Mercurio back in 2004 and taking place almost completely inside a hospital's obstetrics and gynaecology department.

It features Max Beesley (The Midwich Cuckoos) and Patrick Baladi (The Office) as two adversarial surgeons.

Elsewhere in Graham's near future is Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen's wartime drama Blitz, charting the plight of Londoners during World War II as Germany's constant bombing of Britain resulted in blackouts and the evacuation of children.

Little Women's Saoirse Ronan, See How They Run actor Harris Dickinson, Erin Kellyman of Willow, Kathy Burke of Absolutely Fabulous, and rockstar Paul Weller all feature in the cast too.

This Apple TV+ project does not yet have an official release date, but filming came to an end at the beginning of the year.

Bodies comes to Netflix on October 19.
