Report: Heat's Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic out for Game 2 vs. Lakers

Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo will not play in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported. Adebayo is reportedly struggling with a lack of mobility around his left shoulder and neck.

But there’s hope, per the report, he can return for Game 3 this weekend.

Adebayo, 23, appeared to re-aggravate a shoulder strain he initially suffered in the Eastern Conference finals. It happened in the third quarter of the Heat’s blowout Game 1 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters on Thursday an MRI revealed a neck strain on the same side of his previous shoulder strain. He is officially listed as doubtful by the Heat heading into the 9 p.m. ET tipoff.

Also listed as doubtful was guard Goran Dragic, who reportedly suffered a plantar tear in the second quarter of Game 1. He will reportedly not play in Game 2, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The injury typically requires several weeks of recovery. Dragic, 34, has been able to put pressure on the foot despite pain, per the report.

They are both huge losses for the Heat. Dragic is the team’s second-leading scorer in the postseason averaging 19.9 points per game. Jimmy Butler is averaging 20.8.
