Nas and Doja Cat feud over recent song lyric

In The Know and Complex News have come together to bring you the latest news in hip-hop music and culture.

In an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles, rapper Nas explained that the line his song “Ultra Black” — which has people speculating if it was a diss toward Doja Cat — was not intended to be disrespectful.

“I just was really saying a rhyme that rhymed with ‘Ultra Black’,” the rapper insisted. “I rhymed that word with ‘ultra black,’ I didn’t even think of it. It’s all love, it’s all love, you know what I’m sayin’?”

The song was featured on Nas’ new album, “King’s Disease.” The lyrics in question are: “We goin’ ultra black, unapologetically black / The opposite of Doja Cat.”

“It’s bars. It’s lines. We play with words, man,” Nas said.

The interview, which took place on August 21, followed Doja Cat’s Instagram Live where she announced an upcoming song called “NAS.”

“I’m so offended and upset by this song,” she said in the livestream as “Ultra Black” played in the background.
