Naomi Osaka and Cordae have ended their romance.

On Monday, Jan. 6, the tennis star confirmed that she and the rapper, both 27, have broken up.

"Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship," Osaka wrote in an Instagram Story.

She said there is "no bad blood at all" amid the split and described the rapper as a "great person and an awesome dad" to their daughter, Shai, who the couple welcomed in July 2023.

Osaka added, "Honestly really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together."

The pair, who had their first public date at an L.A. Clippers game in 2019, later said they kept their relationship private for nearly a year.

After the couple welcomed Shai in 2023, a source told PEOPLE that Osaka and her newborn daughter were "doing well."

During her pregnancy, Osaka said that she wanted to be the best version of herself for her daughter. "I would say for me, I just want to be the best version of myself. Obviously, I've never been a mother before so I'm taking it day-by-day and just trying to be someone that my son or daughter will be proud of," she said.

During their relationship, Cordae was Osaka's cheerleader at matches. Most memorably, he went to the 2019 and 2020 U.S. Opens to cheer her on.

In July 2019, he told Ebro in the Morning that he "didn't even know who" Osaka was before they started dating, adding, "I know Serena Williams. When you think about tennis, I just know Serena Williams."

For the 2020 U.S. Open tournament, Osaka shared that the Maryland native had "stopped everything he was doing" to support her. "I later found out that he hopped on a plane shortly after that call and then quarantined himself for a couple days in a hotel to see me and support," she captioned her "appreciation" post, which has since been deleted from her Instagram page.

For Cordae's 23rd birthday in August 2020, Osaka wrote a tribute to him on Instagram, which has since been deleted from her page as well.

"I always feel so lucky to be in your life and to be continuously learning from you," she captioned her post at the time. "I'm so grateful that I can talk to you about anything and ask for advice (cause you know I need all the help I can get lol). I love that you lay down and wait for me to go to sleep before you go record. Etc because the list goes on forever… I hope you're having the best birthday, I'm sad I can't be there but I'll make it up to you 😖 happy 23rd, I love you @cordae ❤️."

In the last year, Osaka has not mentioned Cordae as often on social media, leading fans to question if they were still together. She hinted at a possible split in Oct. 2023, posting two cryptic messages on X, where she no longer followed the rapper.

"The art of loving yourself," Osaka wrote in a post on X. In a second post two days later, just after she celebrated her birthday, the former World No. 1 said, "I just want someone that will watch the sunset with me."

Two months later, Osaka praised Cordae's co-parenting skills, saying that they have "built a really good foundation."

"I don't know if it's because he's just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other's opinions. And if we disagree on something, we talk it out. At the end of the day, we both want what's best for Shai," she told InStyle in Dec. 2023.

In her return to the court post-pregnancy, Osaka has struggled to get back to her previous No. 1 ranking. At three of the four Grand Slams in 2024, she lost in the second round. She said in December that she won't "hang around" in tennis if she can't get the results she wants.

"I'd rather spend time with my daughter if I'm not where I think I should be and where I feel like I can be," she told reporters before the ASB Tennis Classic in Auckland, New Zealand. It ended up being her best tournament since Shai's arrival, with Osaka reaching the final, but she was forced to retire due to injury.
