Fears are growing for a man who disappeared last month, with no sightings of him since.

John Simpson, 42, was last seen driving along the Great North Road in Laguna, about 120km north of Sydney on April 13.

Police believe his vehicle broke down during his commute home.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District commenced inquiries into his whereabouts when he could not be located or contacted.

His family hold serious concerns for his welfare, with his disappearance described as out of character.

Mr Simpson is described as being about 180cm, of caucasian appearance, a medium build with brown hair and a grey beard.

Police searched a property in Laguna last week, with a further search in the Laguna area, along the Great North, Watagan Creek and Milsons Arm Roads to continue on Tuesday.

Local police are assisted by Police Rescue, the Dog Unit, Operational Support Group and the SES.

Anyone with information into his whereabouts is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
