Mum's thrifty trick feeds three families for $12

It’s the bargain haul to end all bargain hauls, a mum has fed three families for just $12 thanks to some last minute discounts at her local Coles.

The impressive shop was bagged by Kimberly Bertram, who shared it to her Instagram page Markdown Addicts Australia, where it has attracted hundreds of likes and dozens of comments.

If crumbed chicken breast, beef pastry parcels, and marinated breast fillets, all for under $1 an item sounds like a fantasy, then your dreams just came true.

And the savvy mum behind the page says finding these kinds of bargains really boils down to one simple trick, and anyone can do it.

“It’s all about timing,” mum-of-three Kimberly tells Yahoo Lifestyle, and she has it down to a fine art.

She says each store has a time they begin markdowns on items that need to be sold by end of business and that’s the golden hour when the magic happens.

“The best markdowns are always going to happen in the late afternoon to late night at the close of business, because the option for the store is they sell it or they throw it away,” she reveals.

“I have about four ladies in my local community we all look out for each other, if i don’t get down to the shops I’ll often get a photo on Facebook saying ‘hey I bought this would you like some?’,” she reveals.

It’s what’s behind the most recent haul that stretched to cover three of the families, at only $4 each.

“We’ve actually become really good friends that way,” she says.

The page regularly shares snaps of ingredients nabbed at insanely reduced prices, and the envy of the 100k strong fan base is palpable.

“I never see anything this good!!!” wrote one follower.

“Omg! The cruskits price!! We go through so many!! Jealous,” wrote another.
