Mums lose it over unexpected $20 Kmart winter warmer

As the weather cools, mums across the country have pounced on an unexpected Kmart buy, praising a pair of men’s tracksuit pants as ‘better than the women’s’.

The trackies were shared to a popular Facebook page for lovers of Kmart items and quickly attracted a crowd, picking up more than 1,000 reactions within hours.

“Wow they don’t look like men’s at all,” one fan commented.

“They actually look like women's tracksuit pants,” another said. “I need to get myself some.”

With a high, wide waistband, funky zip pockets and long zips at the ankle, the stylish tracksuit pants have made it onto many women’s shopping lists.

Several women tagged their friends in the post, with one simply writing, “neeeed”.

Proper pockets

And the pants’ deep pockets didn’t go unnoticed either, given that women’s pants often feature short or false pockets.

“Zipper pockets!!!” said one. “What a privilege! How deep are they!?”

“Bought my first pair of mens trackies years ago,” another said.

“They last heaps longer. Are more comfy and have bigger pockets. I will never wear womens trackies again.”

“I was gonna buy some men’s trackies as they have more options,” another commented.

Perfect for tall women

And for taller women, it seems men’s pants are definitely a solid option, with a number of women mentioning they struggled to find trousers and leggings long enough to cater for their height.

“Amazing! I’m 6’1 so I struggle to find pants long enough!” one wrote.

“Will probably have better luck with these! Thanks heaps for sharing.”

But with loungewear a popular category while Australia remains under lockdown, keen shoppers had better get their skates on.

Selling out fast

Priced at just $20 a pair, the cotton-blend pants have now already sold out in size XS, equivalent to a women’s size 8.

The trackie frenzy comes just weeks after Kmart’s loungewear for women went viral, with a $30 matching set quickly selling out after a number of influencers posted about it.
