A mother has been left horrified after spending an entire night believing her baby’s cot was co-occupied by a ghost.

The shock revelation was made public in a Reddit post where the woman revealed how she spotted the supernatural figure next to her young son.

"So, last night I was positive there was a ghost baby in the bed with my son. I was so freaked out, I barely slept,” she wrote.

Like she saw a ghost

What the scared new mum was referring to what appeared to be a small infant’s body and clearly drawn out face right next to her tot.

"I even tried creeping in there with a flashlight while my son was sleeping. Well, this morning I go to investigate a bit further.”

However, the potentially terrifying situation was largely resolved with a surprisingly non-supernatural twist.

“It turns out my husband just forgot to put the mattress protector on when he changed the sheets,” she explained, adding: "I could kill him."

Funny fail

And followers of the now-viral post were also quick to find humour in the parenting gaffe, labelling it everything from ‘completely relatable’ to ‘hilarious’.

“I like how she just let the baby sleep with a ghost. Truly an exhausted mother,” quipped one commenter.

“Hey if the ghost wakes the baby up, it's getting the baby to go back to sleep,” joked another.

“I would 100% have left the baby sleeping until the ghost woke him up.... I wouldn't have slept, but I would have let the baby sleep.”
