The book is set to continue her teachings on YouTube and TikTok — where she has garnered more than 11 million followers — which promote language development in children with speech delays. She was originally inspired to create the videos after struggling to find help for her son, who also had trouble with his speech.
She first hit it big on YouTube in 2019 with her cheery "Songs for Littles," and went on to create videos that are a 50-50 mix of classic kids' songs and original works to help kids learn communications skills.
"Ms. Rachel's debut into the world of publishing is magical," Random House Books President and Publisher Barbara Marcus said in a statement, per GMA. "She has captivated the hearts of children far and wide with her original songs and stories, including my grandson, and we are thrilled to support Ms. Rachel's new world of imagination and joy for years to come."
The book’s cover features an illustration of the social media star in her iconic pink shirt, matching pink headband and blue overalls, done by illustrator Monique Dong. The book is set to guide readers through exercises that utilize call and response and feature characters and music from her YouTube channel.
Developmental toys like Ms. Rachel's Surprise Learning Box, which was created in partnership with Spin Master, will also be available to purchase with the book.
The press release notes that "coupling these engaging toys with the new picture book will create an enriching learning experience for children by providing opportunities to develop sensory, motor, cognitive, social/emotional, and communication skills."
Ms. Rachel and the Special Surprise!: Encouraging Speech and Learning Through Play and Music will be available to purchase on Sept. 24.
