Mother of bride blasted for stealing daughter's thunder

The mother of a bride has been called out online for her choice of dress on her daughter’s big day, which breaks the cardinal rule when it comes to wedding attire.

An image of the happy bride alongside her mother and a third guest has gone viral after it was shared to a wedding shaming Reddit thread.

“Mother of the bride (right) wore a white dress to her daughter’s wedding. Yikes,” the image was captioned.

The majority slammed the woman’s choice of outfit, claiming it was definitely ‘attention grabbing’.

“Just the cut of the dress tells me the mum is the ‘extra’ sort of lady,” one person commented.

“She was obviously trying to steal some attention,” another agreed.

“The neckline and the dress look custom/homemade, which makes this even more egregious. And satin! Good gravy!” was a third response.

While a fourth also agreed the dress was too much: “The fact that she chose a neckline that shows more cleavage than her daughter also speaks volumes.”

Some did try to defend the mum saying the dress was actually champagne, not white.

“It’s CLEARLY champagne. Not white,” was one comment.

The person who shared the image originally revealed later on in the comments they had known the bride from college and she and her mother were always trying to out-do each other so this came as no surprise.
