Sorrel-Weed House

The Sorrel-Weed House is considered to be in the top 10 most haunted houses in America. Many incidents have lead to the fact people believe it is so haunted. The home was built by Francis Sorrel in the early 1840s. Francis had his vices: He engaged in a long-time affair with a slave named Molly. When his wife Matilta discovered her husband with Molly one night, she became enraged and lept from the second-story balcony, killing herself. That was after his first wife had already died. Savannah Georgia is not only one of the most idillic and beautiful places you will ever visit.

It is also rich with history, both good and bad, and some of it even spooky. Savannah is full of haunted houses and we got to check out some of the best ones on a tour with Haunted Savannah.

Many of them were featured in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, a 1997 American crime drama film based on John Berendt‘s 1994 novel of the same name, directed by Clint Eastwood, and starring Kevin Spacey and John Cusack.

The film was the start of a now long history of Georgia being chosen as the filming location for major movies and shows over the past years.

Forrest Gump was filmed in Savannah, The Walking Dead in Atlanta and Senoia, and HBO’s most recent show Sharp Objects was filmed in Barnesville. There have been Marvel movies and plenty more to come no doubt.

Sharp Objects is out now on DVD and Bluray.
