Yahoo Lifestyle Months After Defending Their 23-Year Age Gap, Sam Taylor-Johnson And Aaron Taylor-Johnson Made Their First-Ever Red Carpet Appearance With Her Two Eldest Daughters
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson have been married since 2012.
The pair met back in 2008 on the set of Sam’s directorial debut, Nowhere Boy. She was 42 at the time, while Aaron was 18.
They swiftly got engaged just a year after meeting and welcomed two daughters before their wedding: Wylda, 14, and Romy, 12.
Sam also has two daughters from her previous marriage to art dealer Jay Jopling: Angelica, who is just six years younger than Aaron, and Jessie, who recently turned 18.
A couple of months ago, Aaron shared a rare photo with Jessie in honor of her 18th birthday. “18 now ..still my babygirl,” he wrote over the picture.
This week, Aaron — who publicly refers to Angelica and Jessie as his daughters — was supported by them and Sam at the New York City premiere of his new movie, Kraven the Hunter.
The four stepped out at the Dec. 10 event and posed for several photos, marking the first time that Angelica and Jessie have appeared at a premiere with both their mom and stepdad.
Of course, Sam and Aaron also posed for a bunch of photos together at the premiere.
The rare group red carpet appearance comes months after Sam and Aaron separately defended their 23-year age gap amid long-running scrutiny.
Back in May, Sam said she finds conversations centered around age gaps “strange.”
“When people make films or talk about it or question it or dissect it, it is so strange to me,” she said of age gaps. “When people fall in love, they fall in love.”
Speaking more directly of her and Aaron’s marriage, Sam recalled, “Everyone at the beginning said, ‘It’s a terrible idea, it’s not gonna work,’ and then you’re, like, 15 years down the road and have raised four kids and you’re like, ‘Really?’”
A couple of months prior, Aaron seemingly defended getting married to Sam so young.
When asked about being “judged about doing things at certain ages,” Aaron told Rolling Stone UK, “What you gotta realize is that what most people were doing in their 20s, I was doing when I was 13.”
