‘Monsters’ Season 3 Killer Comes to Life as First Photo From Netflix Series Emerges
Fans are finally getting a first look at Charlie Hunnam in The Original Monster—the third installment of Ryan Murphy's true crime Netflix anthology series.
The Sons of Anarchy star was officially confirmed to be taking on the role of notorious serial killer and grave robber Ed Gein–whose gruesome crimes in Wisconsin inspired the fictional protagonists in horror movies The Silence of the Lambs, Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre–in October.
Joining Hunnam for the limited series is Laurie Metcalf, who will portray Gein's mom, Augusta, Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock, and Olivia Williams as Hitchcock's wife, Alma.

Season 3 of the drama is suspected to explore Gein's connections to Hollywood, though not much has been revealed about the series other than its cast. But weeks after Netflix first teased the storyline, a photo of Hunnam in character as Gein, sometimes called the "Butcher of Plainfield," leaked on X (formerly Twitter) after being uploaded by a fan page on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
In the snap, Hunnam, 44, appeared to be on set dressed in a red flannel and a maroon button-up shirt, with his hair cut short and styled in a '50s combover.

Production of the series began in November, according to an official statement from the streamer. If the timeline of this season is anything like years past, fans probably won't get this latest installment until the fall of 2025, as the first two seasons were both released in mid-September.
Season 1 of the series dissected the infamous crimes of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, with Evan Peters portraying the titular character, while Season 2 was led by Cooper Koch and Nicholas Chavez and covered the Menendez Brothers' case. Both are currently available to stream on Netflix.
