A model had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth on the bathroom floor.

Erin Langmaid, 23, had no visible signs of pregnancy, nor did she experience any common side effects such as sickness, cravings or back ache.

Despite this, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, who weighed 7.9 pounds. Erin and her partner, Dan Carty, have named her Isla.

Speaking to Melbourne-based 7 News, the Australian model described the experience as “the biggest shock of my life”.

She has since shared some Instagram pictures of the three of them, describing the experience as the “hardest week of our lives” to her followers.

Erin used contraceptive injections and both her and her partner said there was no signs pointing to her being pregnant.

“I wasn’t showing obviously because I fit into everything. It was just really bizarre.”

Two weeks prior to giving birth, she began to feel ill, which were, in hindsight, the first signs of her imminent labour.

Her partner found her in the bathroom, after she let out a scream and he went running to check she was ok.

He told the news channel: “I heard a big scream and I ran in there and opened the door and I was worried about her, and then I saw the little one and I thought ‘hang on, there’s two’.”

This type of pregnancy is often described as a stealth pregnancy or cryptic pregnancy, when signs of the baby don’t show up until very late on.

Erin was 37-weeks pregnant when she gave birth and her labour took just 10 minutes in total. While it’s rare to go through your whole pregnancy without knowing, it can happen.
