Musician and animal rights activist Moby has adorned himself with large arm tattoos to mark his 32nd year of veganism.

The 54-year-old – real name Richard Melville Hall – shared a snap of the inking which sees the word ‘animal’ tattooed in block capitals down one arm and ‘rights’ running down the other.

He captioned his Instagram post: "As November is my 32 year vegan anniversary I thought I’d get a tattoo (well, technically 12 tattoos) to celebrate.

"I’m a vegan animal rights activist for many reasons, but ultimately because I believe at the core of my being that every animal has the right to live their own life, according to their own will. Thanks @thekatvond @highvoltagetat #veganforlife #animalrights."

It comes after he had the words ‘Vegan For Life’ inked onto his neck earlier in the year, also by famed US tattoo artist Kat Von D, remarking that it was a ‘safe bet’ after following the lifestyle for so long.

In September, he posted a picture of the neck tattoo along with the caption: "I’ve been a vegan for almost 32 years, so getting this tattoo seemed like a pretty safe bet.

"Also, working for animal rights and animal liberation is my life’s work. And to state the obvious, it’s a double entendre...thank you @thekatvond."

Moby stepped back from the limelight earlier this year after being criticised for claims he made about actress Natalie Portman in his autobiography.

While he alleged they had seen each other for a time in the late 90s when she was 20 and he was 33, Natalie said her recollection was of a "much older man being creepy" with her.

Although he initially expressed ‘confusion’ at her response, Moby later went on to apologise before announcing he would be ‘going away for a while’.
