Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth lose Malibu home in wildfires
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are the latest stars to have lost their home in the wildfires raging through California.
In a post shared on Instagram, Miley revealed that the $2.5m house the couple share “no longer stands”.
“I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now,” she wrote, describing herself as “devastated”.
The 25-year-old singer went on to thank the emergency services for everything they’d done as she vowed to cherish the memories made in the home.
“My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong,” she wrote. “I am grateful for all I have left.”
“Sending so much love and gratitude to the firefighters and LA country Sheriff’s department!”
Miley wrote a song last year about her rekindled romance with her Aussie fiancé, based around that very home, proving just how much the property means to them.
While Liam hasn’t commented publicly on their loss, fans have begun to post messages of support on his Instagram account as they are unable to respond on Miley’s.
“I’m sorry for your house, I’m praying for Malibu,” one fan wrote, while another sent the couple their best wishes.
“Sorry to hear about Miley’s house. Glad that her animals are okay hopefully you can rebuild a new house soon,” another said.
Just two months ago, Miley and Liam — who is originally from Byron Bay but has lived in the US for ten years — bought a swanky new pad in Nashville.
It’s thought the pair may have retreated to the $8.5m love nest for safety with their animals.
Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating. Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. Thank you @LosAngelesFireDepartment. If you can, support these brave men and women at SupportLAFD.org. Link in bio.

Other celebrities have also been affected by the fires including Gerard Butler, Robin Thicke and Neil Young.
Gerrard took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal his house had been destroyed with a photo of his burned out home.
“Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters,” he said.
