Will Michelle Trachtenberg’s Final Project Be Released? Film Producer Speaks Out
A film producer is speaking out about a project that he claims Michelle Trachtenberg was working on before she was found dead in her New York City apartment on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Several fans and celebrities alike posted emotional tributes to the late actress in the hours after authorities confirmed her death. A cause of death was not immediately identified, and while police said her death was not believed to be suspicious, an investigation was ongoing as of Wednesday.
One of the many individuals who posted a tribute to the Harriet the Spy star on social media was film director and producer Casey Tebo. The Black Friday director shared a photo of Trachtenberg on Instagram Stories along with a message that read, “Another famous person who bucked trends and was as sweet as can be, and always joked with me and treated me like a friend. She also wrote the best screenplay I’ve ever read. We’ll miss you Michelle.”
Tebo expanded on his comment about Trachtenberg’s screenplay in a separate post on X, formerly Twitter. The Gossip Girl alum “wrote one of the best screenplays I've ever read, based on the book TOY MONSTER - it's as good as Wolf of Wall Street,” Tebo tweeted. “I'm doing everything I can to get this movie made, we just need to find the right director, and I promise we will get it made for her.” The screenplay is "for a movie. Not a series," he tweeted later, adding, "It’s done and it’s incredible."

When one X user asked if the screenplay was available to read for those working in the movie industry, Tebo responded by writing, “I don't think its on any sites or anything like that. It's truly a work of art, and recently we sent it to an executive who immediately wanted to fast track it, so fingers crossed.”
The idea of a new Trachtenberg project excited many fans who were mourning the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star’s death.
“Omg I really hope it gets made!” one X user tweeted.
“This movie needs to be made, theres a whole generation who grew up with Michelle and our hearts are broke 💔💔😢🥲,” another X user wrote.
“Every millennial would be here for this ❤️,” one fan agreed while another urged, "Sir: get this made. Get it crowdfunded maybe, but get it made. Thank you for helping her."
