Yahoo Lifestyle Michelle Obama Suits Up With Contemporary Edge in Versace’s Safety-pin Blazer for George Clooney’s Albie Awards 2024
Michelle Obama was among the bevy of A-list guests and celebrity attendees on Thursday at the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s Albie Awards 2024. The former first lady of the United States opted for polished power suiting when it came to her attire for the star-studded event.
For the 2024 Albie Awards, Obama wore a custom Atelier Versace look. The “Becoming” author wore a coordinated black suit set, featuring a double-breasted blazer with sharp, silk lapels and soft shoulders. The blazer coordinated with the former first lady’s wide-leg black trousers.

Along one lapel of Obama’s blazer were a series of gold safety-pin embellishments. The details featured two pins each intertwined, with a series of four running down the lapel in smaller sizes.
Obama continued the gold motif of the embellishments by adding gold accessories, including earrings and rings. She completed her ensemble with pointed-toe black heels.
The former first lady was just one of a number of attendees who favored Atelier Versace for their attire to the Clooney Foundation for Justice’s Albie Awards 2024. Amal Clooney, who attended the event alongside her husband of 10 years, also wore a custom Atelier Versace look.
Clooney’s black gown featured a sweetheart neckline with a tasteful plunge. The silhouette of the dress featured a formfitting look with a slightly flared skirt and a small train. Other notable attendees who made an appearance at the red carpet event included Cate Blanchett in Louis Vuitton, among others.
Amal and George Clooney created the Albie Awards to spotlight at-risk justice defenders as a way to send a powerful message to human rights abusers. The award is named in honor of anti-apartheid leader Justice Albie Sachs, who received a lifetime achievement award at the inaugural event in 2022.
