How to get Superman's body

Getting into superhero shape is just as difficult as it looks

Henry Cavill, the British actor who is making women across the world swoon and men inspired to hit the weights room at the gym, has revealed some of the moves that have sculpted his famous shape.

The 30-year-old Man of Steel credits his trainer Mark Twight, for helping him get into shape for the movie, saying he was one of the most incredible people he'd ever met.

"He’s opened my eyes to seeing past what I thought were my limits. He’s a remarkable man, truly."

"He understands what I’m going through physically. He understands me because he sees what I’m going through as a person, which I think is what makes him such a good trainer."

The training regime adopted by Cavill and Twight has been used to help a new recruitment drive for the National Guard in America. Twight said Cavill's training was akin to what a soldier would go through.

His amazing physique is a far cry from his school days when he was teased for being fat. In an interview with this month's Details magazine, he said he used to be self-conscious about his body.

"I was Fat Cavill", he said.

But military-style training has changed this.

"Superman learnt he could fly, I learned I could do all sorts of things in the gym I never thought possible," he said of the training.

"It's not just a physical thing but a psychological thing as well."
