Melissa Peterman Says It's "Impossible" to Go Anywhere with Reba

In case there was ever any doubt about just how close Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman really are, their 2024 Emmys red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight makes it all too clear.

On Sunday, September 15, the dynamic duo joined ET correspondent Nischelle Turner to chat about their fashion, friendship, and new sitcom.

"She is the queen and people just want to talk and chat, but it’s impossible to go anywhere with her—we go to dinner and we can’t even get an appetizer; she’s just talking to people," Melissa joked while waiting for Reba to join her.

While Melissa and Nischelle waited for Reba, they chatted about Melissa’s Emmys gown—a vintage Oscar de la Renta number with a striking blue neckline that complimented her eyes.

"Gorgeous, gorgeous! She’s got the prettiest eyes," Reba chimed in, joining the conversation.

As the chat fluctuated from fashion to friendship, with plenty of laughs in between, it was as if Reba and Barbara Jean stood before our very eyes.

"This is what I love: We’re getting this Reba reunion but the fact is, in real life, y’all are friends," Nischelle swooned, to which Reba jokingly mimed "No we’re not."

"So on Entertainment Tonight, that’s when it’s all coming out, isn’t it," Melissa joked. "Um, we are very, very good friends. Right, Reba?"

The bit went on with the pair playing into the idea that they’re not really friends, only for them both to eventually gush over the opportunity to work together again on Happy’s Place.

"We’ve all been looking for another thing to work together ever since the Reba show was canceled," Reba admitted. "That’s how long we’ve been trying to find something to do together."

"Things had come up since that show but it never worked out for some reason so I always think—and you always say—it happens when it’s supposed to happen and I really believe that the cast we have and the timing is right; I think the people are ready for a half-hour sitcom that has—you are so good at the humor and the heart—and I’m excited," Melissa added. "It felt right. It feels right."

The premiere of Happy’s Place is just around the corner, on Friday, October 18, on NBC. In the meantime, if you’re craving even more Reba news, there’s bound to be plenty now that The Voice is back. Season 26 premieres on Monday, September 23, and it’s bound to be more entertaining than ever with Reba being joined by returning judge Gwen Stefani and newcomers Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg.
