Melania 'dodges' President Trump's kiss in live cross
Melania Trump took the podium at the annual Republican Convention today, but it was her slightly awkward exit that has erupted on Twitter.
The First Lady has famously been caught on a number of occasions seeming to dodge or avoid physical contact with her husband.
The contentious moments are mainly caught in footage of the pair passing between activities, but this evening it was during a live moment being broadcast across the world that the president’s wife seemed to dodge a traditional kiss with her husband.
Following her speech at the annual convention, President Trump thanked his wife and the pair shared two kisses on the cheek.
Though seemingly innocuous, traditionally a president would share a more married smooch with his partner after a rousing speech.
It’s not just the fact the pair studiously avoided locking lips however, some claim the First Lady deliberately swerved to avoid an incoming pucker from her husband.
Twitter users say Melania ‘dodged’ Trump
The theory has taken off on Twitter where users are sharing footage of the slightly awkward moment claiming the First Lady turned her head to avoid Trump – twice.
“Melania turns her face when Trump goes to give her a kiss, she couldn’t even hide her disgust for the photo,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Yes, we all dodge our husband’s lips like that,” another joked. “Totally normal.”
“She completely moved her face when he went for the lips,” another claimed. “What a swerve.”
Melania was praised by several online for being one of few speeches to acknowledge the more than 178,000 US coronavirus deaths so far, and for thanking frontline workers, though critics of her husband’s administration couldn’t look past her praise for the president.

The latest uncomfortable moment between husband and wife comes after a video of the pair went viral last week.
The footage of the married couple and their son Barron caught Twitter users’ eyes when the First Lady was spotted seeming to swat her husband’s hand away.
Melania can be seen gently detangling her hand from her husband’s several times before yanking it away altogether.
The domestic disharmony was spotted in footage of the couple and Barron disembarking Air Force One on Monday.
The pair led the way down the steps, a strong wind blowing the First Lady’s hair over her face, and her husband’s hand into hers, apparently.
Despite the awkward early moments, the pair do eventually hold hands at the video’s conclusion as they board a second plane.
