It’s been a long week for Meghan Markle, who’s been called ‘jaded, shallow and a phoney’ by her half-brother.
Royal author Andrew Morton even referenced the ‘Meghan chill’ in an interview about the 36-year-old former Suits star, which he claims explains how the bride-to-be freezes people out of her life.
But now, one of Meghan’s Hollywood friends Priyanka Chopra, has come to her defence, calling the 36-year-old bride to be an ‘icon’ and praising her for how much she cares about humanitarian issues.
“She really is a [normal girl],” actress and former Miss World Priyanka said in an interview on the Rachael Ray talk show.
“She’s such a girl’s girl and I’ve known her for three years now.
“I’m so happy for everything that’s happened to her because I really feel like she’s one of those female icons that could be a strong idol for girls around the world, because she really cares about the world.”
When host Rachel asked Priyanka if Meghan is still able to live a normal life now that she’s part of The Firm, Priyanka couldn’t help but break out in laughter.

“She still texts a lot, which is great,” she said.
It isn’t the first time Priyanka has jumped to Meghan’s defense, appearing on the Wendy Williams Show last May to wax lyrical about her famous pal.
The star was asked about Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship on the show, with Wendy describing it a kind of a “big deal”.
However, Priyanka didn’t seem impressed with her friend being known as just the flame-haired Prince’s other half, and interrupted Wendy before she could go any further.
“Also, Meghan Markle… you know, an actress in Suits, her own achievements…” she said.
Appearing to not pick up on the star’s discomfort, Wendy then probed the actress even further, asking her if she would be a bridesmaid to Meghan when she walks down the aisle.
“I don’t know if I’m that close to her,” Priyanka awkwardly said.
“We randomly met at a party and got on really well.
“So, once I get the invite, I don’t know… If I’m even invited.”
