Meghan Markle is flying solo, sort of.
The Duchess of Sussex accompanied the Queen for a busy day of royal engagements – her first without Prince Harry by her side.
Markle and Her Majesty travelled overnight to Chester via the Queen’s private Royal Train to open the new Mersey Gateway Bridge and visit the Storyhouse library.
The Duchess of Sussex and the Queen had an easy chemistry, sharing laughs and taking in the crowd which excitedly welcomed the royals to their town.
The 36-year-old former actress looked elegant in a bespoke dress by Givenchy, designed by her wedding dress designer and head of the French fashion house, Clare Waight Keller with. Markle also sported the perfect shade of nude tights.
It’s not uncommon for the spouses of royals to travel with the Queen for royal duties, however many people have noted how quickly it seems for Markle to travel with Her Majesty.
In 2012, almost a year after her royal wedding to Prince William, Kate Middleton made her solo debut with the Queen for a royal visit to Leicester.
Like Markle, The Duchess of Cambridge and Her Majesty had an obvious bond as they took in a fashion show at De Monfort University.
For the occasion, the then 30-year-old Middleton wore a teal peplum skirt-suit by L.L. Bean and a black hat, with her trademark brown hair pinned back on one side.
Both Markle and Middleton aced their first royal appearances with the Queen, with the newly named Duchess of Sussex already seeming like a seasoned pro.
We hope this is the first of more Markle and Her Majesty appearances to come.
