Meghan Markle is keeping her loved ones close to her chest, despite being on the other side of the globe at the weekend.

The Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a quick solo trip to New York to watch her pal Serena Williams compete in the women’s final for the US Open.

Sadly for her, she lost to 19-year-old Canadian Bianca Andresscu, but she had royalty cheering her on from the box.

Meghan was dressed in an AU$220 denim frock for the occasion, but it was her choice of jewellery that really caught people’s eye.

The 38-year-old was wearing a delicate gold necklace by Mini Mini with two tiny dog tags with Prince Harry and baby Archie’s initials on them.

This isn’t the first time Meghan has used initialled jewellery to send a message, and she recently wore an ‘A’ necklace by Sydney-based designer Emma Swann, while court-side at Wimbledon.

Then there was the time back in 2017 when she was spotted with an ‘H’ shaped ring while she and Harry were only newly dating.

Without an entourage in tow, Meghan arrived solo at the match and sat beside Serena’s mother Oracene Price.

Serena’s husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, were also in the player’s box.

The trip came as the duchess is preparing to return to work after giving birth to son Archie Harrison earlier this year.

On September 12, Meghan will launch her first collection of clothing to support the charity Smart Works, which helps dress and prepare women as they enter the workforce.

At the end of September, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will leave for a royal tour of South Africa with their son, following which Prince Harry will travel to Angola, Botswana and Malawi alone.
