Meghan Markle 'planning to have royal baby at Lindo Wing' like Kate
With additional reporting by Danielle Stacey.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to welcome their first child together later this year and there’s been a lot of talk about how and where the mum-to-be plans to give birth.
Meghan previously revealed to well-wishers in Birkenhead that she’s due at the end of April or beginning of May and according to new reports, she’s ‘planning to have her baby at the Lindo Wing’ – the private maternity ward at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
A source told the Telegraph: “Staff at the Lindo Wing have been asked not to take holiday in April. Everyone thinks it’s got something to do with the royal baby but no one is confirming anything.”
The request has sparked speculation that the Lindo Wing is planning the arrival of another royal baby.
It’s the same maternity ward where the Duchess of Cambridge had her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. William and Harry were also born there.
Prices start at £5,900 for a one-night stay at the Lindo Wing and mums-to-be can also indulge in afternoon tea, gourmet meals and champagne to celebrate the birth.
Each room comes with a private ensuite bathroom (containing Elemis products), satellite TV, a radio, bedside phone, WiFi, a safe and a fridge.
There was some speculation that Meghan could decide to give birth at the NHS-run Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey – where the Countess of Wessex had her two children.
Harry and Meghan are set to move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before the baby arrives – and that’s just a 15-mile drive to Frimley Park Hospital, in comparison to the 23-mile journey to the Lindo Wing in London.
