Meghan Markle feels 'very isolated and alone' in royal role

It’s been a whirlwind year for Meghan Markle, who moved from Canada to London, became a member of the royal family and revealed she’s pregnant with her first child.

Mix that with a massive amount of royal engagements and rumours of a rift in the family, and the Duchess of Sussex has had a rollercoaster ride.

But according to a royal insider, all the change hasn’t come without a toll on the 37-year-old Duchess, and she’s said to be struggling with mumblings coming out of the palace that she’s ‘difficult’ to deal with and bombards her staff with texts at 5am.

The rumours have apparently upset the Duchess so much, that she’s shut down a secret Instagram account, she is said to have used to follow her circle of friends.

“Did this upset her? Of course it did,” a friend told The Sun.

“It really got to her and, in the end, she had to shut down that account just before Christmas, too, to protect her mental health. She felt very isolated and alone.”

The same friend also revealed that Meghan doesn’t want to be seen as overshadowing Kate Middleton in her royal role, and that is another reason why she’s moving out of Kensington Palace.

“She’s not trying to change things. People think she’s trailblazing, or wanting to, but that’s not the case and she’s very mindful of tradition,” the friend said.

Last week, the two Duchesses carried out royal engagements on the same day, and royal correspondent Katie Nicholl believes there is a lot of worry about whether one would upstage the other.

“There does seem to be a little concern about the two women carrying out engagements on the same day,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

“At least because the newspapers don’t seem to know who to put on their front page.”

“Possibly Kate does feel a little eclipsed by Meghan, who’s just come along to such huge media interests, public interests and being so successful from the start,” she added.

It was also claimed that the 36-year-old Duchess of Cambridge is ‘put out’ by all the attention ‘glamorous’ Meghan has been getting since she joined the family last year.

Royal expert, Carole Malone, appeared on UK documentary, Kate V Meghan: Princesses at War, to claim that Kate is was used to being the “young gorgeous girl that everyone has been photographing”, until Meghan arrived on the scene, according to New Idea.

Carole claims Kate was “a little put out when this gorgeous, American Hollywood star arrived on the scene.”

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is mum to three adorable kids, was always seen as the captivating member of the family, until ‘outspoken feminist’ Meghan started dating Prince Harry.

And while Meghan may have hoped Kate might have helped her navigate her way through the royal world, it seems the opposite may have occurred.
