Meghan Markle debuts sleek new look
The Duchess of Sussex debuted a sleek new look whilst out in London on Thursday.
As she was greeted by many onlookers, Meghan braved the cold in a black, caped Givenchy coat (first seen at the Remembrance service in November) with a handkerchief pleated skirt and nude court shoes.
She ditched her signature messy bun for a sleek topknot and accessorised with her Dean Davidson stud earrings.
It was the Duchess’ first engagement as the patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and she met with students from the Commonwealth now studying in the UK, and learned how access to higher education has transformed their lives.
During her visit to Fiji last year on her first royal tour with Prince Harry, Meghan spoke about the challenges of paying for higher education.
“It was through scholarships, financial aid programs and work-study, where my earnings from a job on campus went directly towards my tuition, that I was able to attend university,” she said in October 2018.
“And, without question, it was worth every effort.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex expecting their first child
The royal couple are due to welcome their first child in the UK spring (our autumn), but the impending arrival hasn’t stopped Meghan from taking on more royal responsibility.
Along with the university patronage, the Duchess of Sussex has also recently picked up three other patronages including the National Theatre, which she visited on Wednesday.
She and Harry are also currently renovating their new cottage home in Windsor after deciding to move away from their cosy apartment in Kensington Palace, next door to in-laws Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It’s unclear whether the works on the house will be complete before the arrival of baby Sussex, but Harry and Meghan are renting a $4.5 country retreat in the Cotswolds in the meantime.
Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.
