Meghan Markle conforms to royal protocol as she attends the Festival of Remembrance
With additional reporting by Danielle Stacey.
Meghan Markle ensured she followed royal protocol by wearing nude tights as she joined the Queen, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and the rest of the Royal Family at the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night.
It is Meghan’s first attendance at the Royal British Legion’s annual event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which commemorates all those who have lost their lives in conflicts.
This year also marks 100 years since the First World War ended.
All of the royals sported multiple poppies to pay tribute to remember those who have lost their lives in war.
Pregnant Meghan sported a black Stella McCartney wrap coat, while her sister-in-law Kate wore a Roland Mouret dress to mark the sombre occasion.
The former actress married Prince Harry in May earlier this year and the couple have just completed their first royal tour of Australia where rule-breaker Meghan often opted to go bare-legged for several engagements.
One notable absence was the Duke of Edinburgh, 97, who retired from public duties last year.
Prince Philip was part of the Royal Navy and served in the Second World War, before he married the Queen in 1947.
During the event, the audience watched performances from Harry and Meghan’s wedding choir Kingdom Choir alongside the Central Band of the Royal Air Force and the Band of HM Royal Marines.
The Queen and members of the Royal Family will attend the annual Remembrance Sunday service tomorrow morning at the Cenotaph, followed by the Armistice Service at Westminster Abbey in the evening.
