6 beauty products to recreate Meghan Markle's smokey eye

A lot has been said about Meghan Markle's statement beauty look during her bombshell interview with Oprah this week.

Much like her Little Mermaid-who-found-her-voice analogy, commentators have speculated that the former actress' heavy smokey eye was a demonstration of her newfound freedom after leaving The Firm, as she was always going for fresh-faced, minimal makeup looks as a working royal.

Others have compared the look to a modern take on the dark eyeliner Princess Diana wore when she sat down for her equally ground-breaking interview with Martin Bashir in 1995 - the one where she famously said "there were three of us in this marriage".

With lashings of mascara and bold eyeliner, Meghan's eyes really were the focal point of her beauty look, and she kept the rest of her makeup understated and natural to highlight that, with just a pop of colour brightening her cheeks and subtle nude lip colour.

To recreate the magic at home, Sephora has shared these 6 products with Yahoo Lifestyle.

Opting for waterproof eye products is a no brainer to make sure your makeup stays on point when things are going to get emotional.

To mimic Meghan's look, Sephora recommends their Size Up Waterproof mascara with its long-lasting and ultra-black formula, teamed with their Intense Ink Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, that glides on for easy application and high impact colour.

Of course, to get that extra volume, false lashes are a must and Velour Lashes' Effortless Silk Lash Kit are perfect for that ultra-natural finish, and are a great option for first time lash users.

Meghan’s naturally flushed complexion is best mimicked with a cream blush and bronzer, according to our expert at Sephora, as “it will give you a pop of colour whilst simulating the appearance of defined cheeks”.
