Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad Al Thani, arrived in London on Tuesday, where they were welcomed by members of the British royal family.

She’s Related to a Former Qatari Emir
Sheikha Jawaher is the daughter of Sheikh Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, a former Qatari government minister. His uncle was Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the emir of Qatar from 1972 to 1995.
She’s Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s First Wife
Sheikha Jawaher married Sheikh Tamim in 2005 at Al Wajbah Palace. They share four children: Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Tamim Al Thani, Sheikh Hamad bin Tamim Al Thani, Sheikha Aisha bint Tamim Al Thani and Sheikh Jassim bin Tamim Al Thani.
She’s a Huge Designer Fan
Sheikha Jawaher has been known to wear Valentino and Dior designs, sporting the latter label at the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in 2023. The Qatari royal selected an embroidered gown from Dior’s fall 2022 haute couture line.
More recently, she sported an ivory Dior skirt suit to greet Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. Her structured set evoked the fashion house’s iconic New Look pioneered by designer Christian Dior in the 1940s. The silhouette consists of an accentuated waistline and a flared calf-length skirt.
While meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales on Monday, she wore a gray coat and red dress by Valentino haute couture for her arrival in London.
She’s a Patron of Education
Sheikha Jawaher received her Master of Arts degree from Qatar University in 2021. She’s given back to her alma mater as a patron of the school’s graduating class of female students in 2017 and 2022, respectively.
