Yahoo Lifestyle Meet All the Contestants on 'Love Village' Season 2
The rise of the Netflix dating show is quite frankly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and the speed at which they're platforming shows is maybe the most impressive part—and makes it almost impossible for serial reality watchers like myself to keep up. The latest is Love Village season 2, which, if you're not familiar, is maybe the most wholesome dating show out there right now.
Although the name might make you think of a messy dating scene (like what we see on shows like Love Island), it's anything but! You aren't going to find bombshells strutting into the villa here. Instead, what you get is four men and five women between the ages of 35 and 60 who've been chosen to go live in a shared, kinda-worn-down house in the Japanese countryside.
They have no cell phones or laptops and are given a very small amount of money to spend. They have to work together, cook together, and get to know each other in a communal setting while trying to find love. Contestants leave at different points (sometimes because they've found love and sometimes not) and new ones are brought in to replace them. Make sense?

Tamifull
Age: 45
Hometown: Kanagawa, Japan
Occupation: Manga artist
Bio: Tamifull has never been married but after a tough few years, she wants to find a spouse. She was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer at the age of 34 and underwent a challenging eight months of chemo followed by surgery. After coming out on the other side, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of being a manga artist and learned to cherish each day.
Gitarin
Age: 52
Hometown: Hokkaido, Japan
Occupation: Music teacher
Bio: Gitarin has never been married and he's a little afraid of heartbreak, but he's seriously focused on finding a wife. He was passionate about music from a young age and even wanted to be a professional musician. He ended up moving as a young adult from Tokyo back to his hometown and opening a music school there.
Captain
Age: 48
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Occupation: Former rescue pilot
Bio: Captain has never been married before and says it's been hard to find love because he always prioritized looks. But now he's looking to find someone he connects with emotionally (growth!).
Pachi Yumi
Age: 51
Hometown: Saitama, Japan
Occupation: Gym manager
Bio: Pachi Yumi was married once before but says she hasn't been in a relationship for a long time now. Fun fact: it was her daughter, model Nicole Fujita, who encouraged her to come on the show.
Akipon
Age: 44
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Occupation: Hair salon owner
Bio: Akipon is the only village resident who has been married twice before. He has three kids from his previous relationships, but he's not in their lives much.
Chii
Age: 40
Hometown: Ibaraki, Japan
Occupation: Photographer and actor
Bio: Chii has never been married before but she came close once. She spent her 30s with a man she thought she was going to marry, but things ended badly after he cheated on her. She's now slower to trust but is actively looking for a life partner.
Manhattan
Age: 59
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Occupation: Former trading company employee
Bio: Manhattan is the oldest resident of the village. He has a degree in economics and got a corporate job in Tokyo but left it behind to move to—you guessed it!—Manhattan. He was married before for 15 years and has two daughters, and even though he's gone through a divorce and seen the difficult side of relationships, he's still looking for romance in his life.
Ayakan
Age: 35
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Occupation: Secretary
Bio: Ayakan has never been married before but she wants to find a partner for life and she really wants to be a mom. Now that she's 35, she's starting to feel the pressure to make it happen.
Sen-ne
Age: 57
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Occupation: Dietician
Bio: This mom from Tokyo has never been married before but she's on the lookout for that special someone. As a dietician, you can expect to see Sen-ne taking charge in the Love Village kitchen.
Makio
Age: 39
Hometown: Sendai, Japan
Occupation: Home renovation sales
Bio: Makio is a bit of a, um, quirky guy, nicknaming himself "Love Fighter Makio." He also says right off the bat he's been called a sex demon, so that should be interesting. He used to work as a bar manager but now does sales for a home renovation company. He's never been married and says he's here to find love.
Nino
Age: 42
Hometown: Aichi, Japan
Occupation: Model and web editor
Bio: Nino has never been married before and she's on the hunt for love, but she wants to ease into life on the show before jumping into anything. Her model looks might spark some competition (and maybe a little jealousy) in the village.
