Will a 9-1-1: Lone Star favorite RSVP for the grand finale? What’s ahead for The Rookie‘s #Chenford? Is Matlock done working with Olympia? Read on for answers to those questions and others! (You can and should email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
Is there any chance Sierra McClain will show up at all for the final season of 9-1-1: Lone Star? Grace was the heart of the show. Would be nice to at least see her in the finale! –Jordan
Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for a Grace cameo before the series wraps on Feb. 3. Co-showrunner Rashad Raisani confirms to TVLine that we will not be seeing McClain’s character again, though “not for lack of effort.” (TVLine has reached out to McClain’s reps for comment.)

So happy we won’t have to wait too long into the new year for The Rookie to return. It’s been forever, and I’m missing my Chenford fix. How much groveling will Tim have to do in order to get back in Lucy’s good graces? They make each other so much better. –Liz
I wouldn’t say Tim has groveling ahead, just continued introspection and self-improvement. As showrunner Alexi Hawley put it, “He’s not done with the work he’s got to do. Lucy doesn’t fully trust him now, so there’s a lot of trust that needs to be re-earned, and it can’t just happen in a few weeks. But I like that we really faced [Tim’s issues] head-on and it was really based on something organic.”
Has Family Law on CW been cancelled? –Herb
Nope, the network still plans to air Season 4 of the Canadian family/legal drama — it just hasn’t set a date yet.
Any scoop on Robyn and Marcus in upcoming episodes of The Equalizer? –Adriana
The Christmas episode (airing Dec. 8) promises to be allll kinds of awkward when Robyn gets trapped in a hospital by a drug cartel – along with Dante and ex-husband Miles, who in turn meet for the first time.
Any Cruz and Josie shenanigans that we can expect on Lioness? –Clo
This Sunday’s episode opens with the two bonding over the fathers/father figures in their lives — until Cruz notes that they’re a day behind on the mission and need to start putting the screws to Josie’s pop. From there… well, things go sideways in ways you cannot even imagine, in yet another intense and insaaaane episode. Let’s just say that someone has been withholding huge information, and one team member was gravely wounded during last week’s firefight — but doesn’t even realize it.
I recently asked about the bonus episode of Yellowjackets. With promotion for Season 3 now starting, we have yet to hear anything about the “missing episode.” Is it a dead thought now? –Oliver
You are 100% correct — even the beefy press release about the Season 3 premiere date made zero reference to the “bonus” episode that was touted nearly 18 months ago and was supposed to air between seasons. To date, Paramount+ has had nothing to share when I’ve checked in on the “bonus” episode’s status/fate.
I’ve been really enjoying Mistletoe Murders, any scoop on the second half of the season? – AD
On the heels of this week’s installment of the Hallmark+ series, which peeled back the curtain a bit on Emily’s backstory, star and executive producer Sarah Drew tells me that Episodes 5 and 6 are her personal favorites. “There’s a murder mystery that also involves a super-fun treasure hunt,” she says, “and the guest cast is phenomenal!”
Did I read the new Shanola Hampton interview right, that Found is going to find Margaret’s son this season? –Susan
It sure sounds like Gabi & Co. will try their damnedest. “Coming up, we’re going to really get into the Jamie and Margaret storyline and start digging into the case,” Hampton said. “It’s time for this woman [Margaret] to get something.”
What’s next for Chicago P.D.‘s Atwater and Val? Are we going to see more of those two? –Leanne
“I hope so,” showrunner Gwen Sigan says, calling Val’s introduction earlier this season “such a good start to them. We’re hoping for that to continue. It’s a great vehicle to use to tell Atwater’s story of, hopefully, finding some balance and finding something for himself and a way to also fill his own cup as he’s filling everybody else’s.”
What is coming up this season for Chicago Fire‘s Carver? –Dee
“Oh, man, he gets to step up in some new ways,” Jake Lockett previews. “That’s the thing that I’m really excited to see, like, how far up can he go? I’ve been given the opportunity to do some really fun action and to show off some of Carver’s strengths, and I’m excited to see how much more he gets to do. He gets to step into new roles in different circumstances, and that gives him opportunities to concrete himself.”
I’m worried about Matlock. Will Matty not have scenes anymore with Olympia, and Sarah and Billy? –Rod
I had the same concern, given that Matty is now working on Wellbrexa with Julian. But Skye P. Marshall assured me that the hit CBS freshman isn’t altering its format. “No matter what Julian and I go through, we have processed all the different obstacles of working together, and we’re able to put those challenges, whether they’re personal or professional, to the side for the sake of the firm and the sake of the client,” she said. “So you will still see Julian or Madeline needing my assistance, or me needing theirs. That connection won’t end just because Madeline shifts to big pharma.”
Huge Travis Fimmel fan ever since Vikings! Anything on his Dune: Prophecy role? –Katie
It sounds like Episode 4 (of this season’s six) is quite the showcase for both Fimmel and his quietly powerful alter ego. In that hour, “Desmond Hart has a public display of his abilities,” previews EP Jordan Goldberg, as part of what Fimmel himself jokingly describes as “a dance-off.” All told, it features “a very powerful performance” by Fimmel, Goldberg says. Episode 4 also is a favorite of Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, who plays Princess Ynez and says it’s rife with “family drama” and “tension.”
Any update on Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters? I remember it getting renewed but have heard nothing since. –Dave
As a matter of fact, production on Season 2 started this week — and if series lead Anna Sawai has her druthers, her character will be more active moving forward. “I feel like Cate should have more agency,” the Emmy-winning Shōgun actress told me. “In Season 1, she is kind of the victim — thrown into it all and sometimes wanting to go back to her normal life. But after going down to Axis Mundi, she should come out as a different person. She’s seen stuff that she didn’t know before. They have answers and things to do now.”
I wanted to ask a question on the behalf of my mom we were wondering, do you have any idea on when LEGO Masters will return on Fox? –Shawn
Though LEGO Masters is missing from Fox’s early-2025 schedule, I am assured that the fifth season will air during this TV season. In the meantime, the third annual LEGO Masters: Celebrity Holiday Bricktacular will air Tuesday, Dec. 10, and Tuesday Dec. 17.
