Last year, MasterChef fans were shocked when it was announced that judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston were making a shock exit from the show.

Just a few months later, it was revealed that the much-loved reality show was inviting three new judges to join the fold - Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen.

And now, Back To Win contestant, Poh Ling Yeow, has disclosed her horror at the departure of the old judges, revealing she had her reservations about the new recruits.

“Honestly, I was devastated when I found out, but these new judges are actually really amazing,” Poh said on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa show.

“They’re doing such a great job. It’s a new era, I do really miss them but I’m really fortunate to be able call them my friends so we keep in touch”

Poh was a favourite to be brought in as one of the new judges, but she reveals she was actually never asked to do the job.

“A lot of people keep digging for, ‘okay you must be a bit bitter you weren’t asked blah blah blah’ but I really wasn’t,” she said.

“Strangely I had secretly fantasised about doing an all-star thing for a long time because for me the thrill of that kitchen is being in the fray and once you’ve been bitten by the bug and seeing what’s possible in these impossible time limits and under this crazy amount of pressure it’s just a really unique thing and that’s why I came back. I just wanted to feel that electricity again!”

While Poh, who first appeared on season one of the show in 2009, has always been a fan favourite, isn’t unaware of the comments circulating online that this year’s series has turned into ‘The Poh Show’.

She told Fitzy and Wippa she “would love to stay out” of the promos and drama of the show a bit more but she “keeps getting into trouble”.

“I think that’s one thing that people don’t realise, because I know there’s been a few comments about ‘oh it’s the Poh show’ but it’s because I keep doing well and then doing badly, so it means I’m in all the cooks,” she said.

Last night, Poh found herself in the bottom three, but unfortunately Rose was shown the door on the back of thin pasta and an unbalanced sauce.
