Married At First Sight star announces engagement

Married At First Sight star Melissa Walsh has announced her engagement, but it’s not to the man she met on the show.

The 53-year-old was paired with John Robertson on the most recent season of the Channel Nine dating show, and the pair even decided to stay together at the finale.

But after a couple of months they called time on their reality romance, and Melissa later revealed she was dating Fred Whitson.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, Melissa revealed Fred had popped the big question, and of course she said ‘yes’.

The proposal

“When the man you are in love with proposes, you say ‘yes’,” she captioned her post, along with the hashtags: #love#solucky #hellyes.

Accompanied were two photos, one of the happy couple and a closeup of the engagement ring.

Fred also shared the same image of the big rock, along with the caption: “She said ‘Yes’ #engaged#headoverheels #luckyme #madeforeachother”.

Time to celebrate

Some of Melissa’s MAFS co-stars congratulated the star on her exciting news.

“OMG Congratulations Mel and Fred! What wonderful news. So happy for you guys xoxo,” wrote Carly Bower.

“I am absolutely THRILLED for you both! What wonderful news to hear! Congratulations my darlings,” penned Sarah Roza.
