MAFS' Davina confronts former star over 'hate' post
Married At First Sight star Davina Rankin has been facing a considerable amount of viewer backlash as of late, following her cheating scandal with fellow contestant Dean Wells.
But the reality star says she doesn't appreciate former MAFS contestants jumping on the shaming bandwagon and showing 'hate' towards her online.
Zoe Hendrix, who appeared in the 2015 series of the Channel Nine dating show, has revealed Davina reached out to her via private message, after seeing a meme Zoe had shared, which poked fun at Davina.
"The other day I posted a meme of Davina that crossed the line into bullying. It’s since been deleted," Zoe wrote to her Instagram followers, acknowledging she wasn't proud of her previous actions.
"As soon as I posted it, something didn’t feel right. My gut instinct told me it wasn’t true to who I am or what I’m about. A few hours later Davina contacted me and outlined how hurt she was to see it," Zoe continued.
"She is really struggling with the intensity of the online attacks. I had added to it."
Zoe also asked viewers to be aware of the editing of the show before it goes to air.
"We all know how damaging cyber bullying can be. It takes lives. We must take it seriously. It’s one thing to discuss and analyse the drama on MAFS (and I’m all for that) but we must not forget that these characters are real people," she said.
"Imperfect, real people, who f**k up and who are to a degree at the mercy of editing.."
She also shared a screenshot of her exchange with Davina, in which the TV villain made a comment about Zoe's daughter, that hit close to home.
"I would like to think you of all people would know how reality tv works and what happens behind the scenes with editing etc," Davina wrote.
"I really hope your little girl never has to go through the cyber bullying or attacks that I've experienced over this horrible time."
Davina has attracted a combination of reactions in the past few days after her affair with Dean Wells was exposed.
Dean's TV wife Tracey Jewel and Davina's TV husband Ryan Gallagher were devastated when learning of the cheating scandal.
