MAFS star James Susler shows off new girlfriend

TV groom James Susler has officially moved from his rather unsuccessful stint on Married at First Sight, showing off his new girlfriend on Instagram this week.

The car salesman, who was paired with Joanne Todd on the controversial Channel Nine reality series, posted a selfie with his new girlfriend, actress Verity East.

"With my GF at the one of the best (and our favourite venue) in Melbourne @lollo_melbourne. Celebrating EOFY 2021," he captioned the snap.

Verity also post her own couple snap, along with the caption: "Back at our favourite restaurant @lollo_melbourne with my numero uno."

Fans were clearly thrilled to see James loved up with his new partner, taking to the comments section to share their support.

"Gorgeous couple," one person commented.

While another wrote: "You got yourself a keeper there, mate."

James, a dad-of-three, was married to barber and mum Jo on the eighth season of MAFS.

But while the pair initially seemed to hit it off, things quickly went south. There was especially no coming back after James decided to 'prank' Jo and the show's experts by exclaiming he was "in love with another woman."

"It’s Alessandra,” he said, before jumping up to kiss the sex therapist on the cheek.

And as the confusion around the room becomes clear, James quickly tries to clarify: “I’m trying to lighten the mood. I was only joking."

He was slammed on social media by MAFS fans for the 'offensive' joke, and the relationship never recovered.

James and 'wife' Joanne eventually left the experiment after the groom was called out by the experts for gaslighting.
