Male Birth Control Could Be On the Market By 2017

In just three years male birth control could be as simple as a single injection. Vasalgel – a polymer contraceptive developed in the US – has passed the testing stage and is beginning trials next year, with a view to becoming fully available by 2017.
How does it work? A single injection of Vasalgel to the vas deferens blocks sperm from moving through the tube, mirroring the process of a vasectomy. When men want to reverse the treatment, all they need to do is have another injection to flush out the polymer contraceptive from their system.
As the Daily Beast notes, if Vasalgel and other male birth control methods like it were to become popular, it could completely change the way we view contraception. Watch this space.
