While we all define job stress differently, a new study by CareerCast has shed some light on those who feel it the most.

Physical demands, required travel, employee competition, and employee visibility in the public eye were all taken into account by the study, which considered 11 different job demands in total.

Unsurprisingly, firemen and police officers topped the 'most stresssed' list - after all, when they say it's a matter of life and death, it actually is - as opposed to our office, where a shoe can create nearly as much havoc.

Interestingly though, the acting profession made the list of top 10 most stressful careers - is there something Hollywood isn't telling us? Because those year-round vacations and cash to splash look pretty good to us.

On the flipside, hairdressers are reportedly the least stressed in their jobs due to the many long-term relationships they enjoy with their clients. Seamstresses and dieticians also report low stress rates.

"The amount of stress a worker experiences can be predicted, in part, by looking at the typical demands and crises inherent in his or her job," said CareerCast. "Our ranking system for stress considered 11 different job demands which can reasonably be expected to evoke stress. Each demand was assigned a range of points."

Here are the top 10 most stressful jobs:

2. Enlisted Military Personnel
3. Military General
4. Airline Pilot
5. Police officer
6. Actor
7. Broadcaster
8. Event co-ordinator
