New Book: Settling For Mr Good Enough

A year and a half after marie claire 's story, "Should You Settle For Mr Good Enough?" (June 2008), author Lori Gottlieb has published a book, Marry Him: The Case For Settling Mr Good Enough (Penguin, $39.95) on the subject.

But on this morning's Sunrise, not all women seemed to agree with Gottlieb's advice.

Speaking from personal experience, radio presenter Flipp Shelton said women might get caught up when other friends are getting married and rush into marriage with the wrong man.

Meanwhile, TV personality Fifi Box compared settling to giving up on finding love.

"I've never given up on anything in my life," she said, adding that fireworks and passion were sometimes more critical than ticking the right boxes. "I don't want the perfect guy, I just want the sparks."

However, marie claire publisher/editor Jackie Frank believes that it's not all about passion. Women, she said, are chasing the Hollywood ideal, but need to understand that "marriage is about a partnership, a relationship."
