Heartbreaking Footage Shows Child Brides Pleading For Help

A distressing video showing young Indian children – some as young as five - crying as they are forced to marry adult men has been released on to the internet.

The footage captures a mass wedding ceremony in Chittorgarh, a city in Rajasthan, India according to Fox News, and shows several children, dressed in ceremonial clothes crying and protesting as they are dragged through the ceremony.

In one clip, a priest scolds the children for crying.

The footage has been condemned around the world, with child rights groups saying that it is illegal for girls under 18 to marry in India.

It comes just weeks after a 13-year-old Yemeni girl died of internal injuries just four days after being married to a man almost twice her age.

It is estimated that every two seconds a young girl is forced into marriage somewhere around the world. That is 142 million girls over the next decade.
