NYC Police Officer Celebrates Gay Pride Parade With Danceoff

The weekend was a joyous occasion for many in the United States of America after gay marriage was ruled legal in the country.

On Sunday, thousands gathered for the Gay Pride Parade in New York - including the city's finest uniformed police officers.

While most were simply in attendance to do their job, it seems one in particular couldn't contain his joy at the ruling, and was subsequently filmed busting a move in the streets with a fellow party-goer named Aaron Santis.

"The cop was standing there all stoic," said Paige Ponzeka, who filmed the moment. "As soon as Aaron started dancing with him, grinding up against him, the cop tried to stay still but then he just got super into it.

"The crowd loved it," she added. "It was a super moment."

Santis told BuzzFeed he'd been trying (and failing) to get the men in blue to dance with him all day.

"I didn't expect him to get into it as much as he did," Santis said. "The crowd just loved it and I think it made him want to dance more.

"It was such a fun moment. He was such a good sport and I'm so glad he decided to dance."

Watch the magic unfold for yourself above - but rest assured, this isn't the only policeman to get into the action at a gay pride event:
