The first time I did it, I took forever getting ready. I’m a natural exhibitionist, but this was a whole new league. I waited anxiously for someone to say, “Hi.” It was instant.
Within hours I was chatting to guys from all over the world. I was just being myself and enjoying it. Guys would “tip” me, meaning they would literally just give me money for talking to them. This often led to them asking me to strip or perform for them, which meant more money too.
Over the next few months, I built up a base of regulars ranging from 20 year olds, who were too shy to chat to real girls, up to 60 year olds, who enjoyed having a conversation with a young girl. They all went into great detail about their lives and in return I’d be pretty open about mine. I suppose in a strange way they become like friends and they certainly view you as that.
Now, it’s normally about 90 per cent chatting and only 10 per cent about stripping and sex for me.
To be honest it’s pretty exhausting. I work as an escort too, however, I find camming to be more mentally draining. My regulars want a lot of contact and I need to be there for them every night.
I very quickly started earning around $2000 a fortnight for what was really only a few hours of work each night. I also created a gift list and I was amazed when the presents flooded in – anything from sex toys to beautiful dresses and homewares. Many of the men started to believe I was their girlfriend.
I also started chatting to other cam girls. Some of them have come from a stripping or escorting background, but many are new to the industry and keep their camming lives secret. Developing a support network meant we could warn one another about jerks who just come online to make nasty comments. There are a few guys I’ve blocked, but I’ve never had any bad experiences.
Webcamming has taught me a lot about men. Deep down they are all the same, wanting a member of the opposite sex to listen to them and to show them some affection. They also aren’t all into stick thin, model types. I’m quite curvy – knowing how that turns guys on has made me more confident about my body.
All my friends and family know what I do because I’m proud of my work and they are fine with it. Sure, it’s not the most conventional career, but I’m good at it and while I’m making such great money and enjoying what I do I’ll continue to cam.
