Prince Harry: 'All I Want To Do Is Make My Mother Incredibly Proud'

As he prepares to launch the second Invictus Games, Prince Harry has given a candid interview in which he opens up about his late mother, Princess Diana, and his desire to have kids.

"All I want to do is make my mother incredibly proud," Harry told People magazine. "That's all I've ever wanted to do."

Speaking in the Audience Room of Kensington Palace before he set off for his US trip, Harry, who was just twelve when his mother died, said that he hopes to fill the "gaping hole" that was left when she died.

"When she died, there was a gaping hole, not just for us but also for a huge amount of people across the world," he told the Audience Room of Kensington Palace. "If I can try and fill a very small part of that, then job done. I will have to, in a good way, spend the rest of my life trying to fill that void as much as possible. And so will William."

"I know I've got a lot of my mother in me. I am doing a lot of things that she would probably do."

"There have been moments through life, especially when we do a tour abroad, when I think, 'I'd love to have kids now,'" he said, adding that he, "dig[s] being around kids".

"I just have fun. You never know what they're going to say. George and Charlotte will grow up and hopefully find me to be the fun uncle. I always want to be the fun uncle."
