Olivia Munn had the opportunity to star in one of the biggest movies of 2016, but she made a conscious decision not to.

In a new interview with American Way, the 35-year-old actress says that she didn't want to just play "the girlfriend" and so she turned down the role.

Despite the movie going on to achieve major box office success, she doesn't regret her decision, because it left her free to land the role of Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, where she gets to kick some butt in some seriously impressive fight scenes.

"I said, 'Is there a fight scene?' The fight scene could be her monologue. I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, 'Yes, as long as you're not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.' And they said, 'Yes, that's an important part.'"
